If you’re a new blogger, I’m sure you have all kinds of questions running through your mind.
No worries, that’s totally normal. I had a ton of questions in my first year of blogging. Shewt, this year marked by nine year blogiversary and even though I learned a lot about blogging during that time, I still have questions every now and then. If there is one thing about blogging you should know, it’s that there is always something new to learn.
Let me also say there is no need to stress over it because as a blogger, we’ll always have questions. It’s a part of our growth – especially the first couple of years.
And there’s no reason to panic because there are all kinds of resources not to mention an awesome blogging community to get answers to your questions.
How to Be An Awesome Blogger
I received a message from a young lady who is thinking about starting a blog. She asked me with all the blogs out there, how could she stand out from other bloggers in her niche.
That was one of the first questions I asked myself as a new blogger. I was even unsure how I would measure up.
Lucky for me, I learned from the best of the best bloggers out there and I want to pass on to you what I learned from them.
So what do you do to stand out from the millions of blogs out there? Here are five all-important tips you should make sure to follow if you want to blog like a boss and be recognized noticed in this big ole blogosphere and here they are.
Tip #1 – Treat Your Blog Like A Business
If your goal is to make money as a blogger then you have to treat it like a business. And like all businesses, there has to be a game plan in order to know what goals to meet and how to get there. So the first thing you want to do is create a blogging plan.
Your blogging plan should include a mission statement, attainable revenue goals, a marketing strategy for promoting your content, a blogging strategy to map out how often you will publish a blog post and a social media strategy to grow your followers.

Tip #2 – Focus on UX (User Experience)
Give your readers the best visitor experience. For one, make sure your theme is mobile-responsive. Nowadays, most of us are glued to our cell phones and never leave home without it. So make sure your theme will look awesome when it’s accessed from a mobile device.
Most themes are now designed to look great on any device but if you’re using a theme that isn’t mobile ready, check out the themes on StudioPress*.
Once you have the theme down and you start to customize it, make sure your blog is attractive (think white space) and not hard on the eyes. If you’re not comfortable making customizations to your theme, hire a web designer to bring your ideas to life!
Tip #3 – Write Killer Content
No doubt about it you’ve got to have great content. That’s the way to keep your readers wanting to go back to your blog.
Create content that will help your visitors either with an issue they’re having or answer a question. And to really connect with your readers, share your own story or journey.
I didn’t pick up this concept on my own. Ryan Biddulph of Blogging From Paradise has been teaching us how to incorporate stories with our blog posts for as long as I’ve been following him.
Write in your own voice and don’t try to be like someone else. It’s okay to want to be like your favorite blogger. By that I mean being able to reach your readers the way they do or how write great content like them. But you don’t want to use their tone. Trust me, your readers will see right through it.
Tip#4 – Engage With Your Audience
This tip is very important. Blogging is not just about creating content, it’s about engaging with your community. Not only can they help you become an established blogger but those loyal readers can one day be a customer if you decide to create your own products.
Also, advertisers look for bloggers who engage with their community. So if monetizing your blog through sponsored campaign is a goal, start building those relationships!
Here’s the way to start. If someone leaves a comment on your blog post or on a social media post leave a reply. If it’s a comment from a fellow blogger then show the love by making sure to visit their blog in return. Leave a thoughtful comment and not one liners like “great post.” Also share their work on your social media pages.
Another way to build a community is by starting the conversation on social media. Such as, asking open-ended questions and create a fun poll. Or you can share a pic and ask your followers to caption it.
Tip #5 – Keep Learning The Art Of Blogging
Last but not least, you have to keep learning. There is always something new to learn in the blogging world. Keep your eyes open for the latest trends. Finally, connect with bloggers who will show you how to create awesome content, how to grow your blog and how to genuinely connect with your fans and followers.
