If you’re a new blogger, the primary goal will be to get your blog as much exposure as possible and connect with visitors and fellow bloggers in your niche.
One great way to get your blog out in the blog-o-sphere is by joining Facebook groups or Google Communities. The purpose of these groups is to offer you support not only for your blog but for your social media pages as well.
Every group is set up and managed differently but the premise is the same. Facebook groups or Google communities create threads in which you can share a link of a post that was published on social media networks like Facebook, Twitter and Google.
To participate in the threads you’ll need to know how to get the URL or permalink of the post that was published on your social media pages.
Plus, you’ll need to know this if you write a sponsored post to submit those links to the Influencer Network.

How To Get The Permalink Of A Social Media Post
Every now and then a new member will ask how to get the permalink of a social media post. If you’ve been blogging for a while now, you know where to ge this. But a new blogger might not.
So, here’s a quick tutorial I put together to show new bloggers how to get the permalink of a social media post on the most popular platforms.
Select the post you want to share on your group’s thread and click the timestamp. The timestamp is the date/time your post was originally published.

A new window with your post will appear. Copy and paste the permalink (or URL) at the top of the page – check out the screenshot below. The yellow arrow pointed to the URL is the permalink.

How To Get The Twitter Permalink
On Twitter, go to your profile and click on the Tweets tab to select the tweet you want the permalink to.

When you find the Tweet, click the timestamp when the tweet was originally sent. Once the new window appears, the URL at the top of the page is the permalink.

Get The Permalink For Pinterest
There are a couple of ways to get the permalink of a Pinterest post.
#1 If you haven’t pinned the post on Pinterest, hover over the featured image of your post and the “pin it” button will appear.
Note: Here’s how to add an extension to your web browser.
Since I’m a Chrome user, I’ll use that one as an example.
In Chrome, click on the three bars located at the top right of the window. A drop down box will appear. Select “more tools” and then click on “extensions”.
When the extensions window appears click on Extensions on the top left of the page. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on “open Chrome Web Store”.
A new tab will open and display the Chrome web store. In the search box located at the top left, type in “pin it button” and select “extensions” to filter your search.
Select the extension you want to use then click “add to chrome”. Confirm you want to add the extension and it will be added to the toolbar.
Okay…back to Pinterest.
So let’s say you want to grab the permalink as soon as you pin your content. Here’s what you do.
- Hover over the image so the Pin It button appears then click on it.
- Save the image to the board you choose.
- When you pin it a window will appear. Scroll down and click on “see it now”.
- When the Pin opens, the URL at the top of the page is the permalink.

You can also grab the permalink directly from Pinterest. Just go to your board, select the pin, copy and past the URL and that’s it. It’s as simple as that!

To get the link of an Instagram post, log on to your Instagram account from your PC. From your profile dashboard, click on the image you want to share. The URL of that image is the permalink.
